When you pick your heroes and assemble your team at the start of the game, they'll be randomly assigned some positive and negative Quirks. Each hero has a suitably dark and tragic backstory, and learning more about them will help you understand how they interact with the world. It's important to consider all the different variables when building your team, including their usual rank, any abilities they have that could benefit other heroes, and the types of trinkets that you have unlocked that you can use for them.Īs you progress through the game and invest more time into each hero, you'll unlock more about each of their backstories and personalities, too. Some hero paths are much better than others but it's possible to beat the game with any of them.įinding the ideal team composition can take a fair bit of trial and error. They can affect the synergy behind your team composition as well. Hero paths are essentially classes or specializations, and they can significantly change your experience and success in the game. Initially, every hero will fall into the Wanderer hero path, but it's possible to change this at the start of every new expedition.

There are also hero paths for each individual hero, which you'll unlock as you progress throughout the game. There are currently 12 heroes to pick from, some of which are available from the get-go and others that you'll need to unlock.
